Hope Loves Company

Devotional walks in wide-open spaces with plenty of social distancing.

My sister Tamara and I set out to pray a blessing over some of our favorite neighborhood walks—places that feel peaceful, meaningful, and full of beauty. For each spot, we’ve been writing a short devotional message, specific to that location. Our prayer is that God would bless these places and set them apart—turning ordinary ground into holy space.

Mark Batterson wrote: “The Israelites often built memorials in places of spiritual significance. During seasons of repentance or intense prayer, they would often return to those ancient altars to renew and remember their covenant with God. When you pray at the site of an answered prayer, it increases your faith. These places are like watchtowers that provide a unique vantage point into the spiritual realm.”

That’s what we’re hoping to create—little “watchtowers” in our neighborhoods: places you can return to, remember what God has done, and find your faith strengthened again.

If you have a place you love, share it with us. Tell us where it is and why it matters to you. Leave a specific prayer—ask God to bless that spot—then let us know where it is so we can visit too. Hope loves company.
